Dreaming of Berlin
There is so much to see!
I had saved, researched, planned, and was prepared to purchase airfare and an Airbnb reservation for Germany in the spring of 2020, travel target date, summer of 2020. As anyone reading this knows the world turned upside down in March of that year and all travel plans were ended. Especially international ones.
While I did manage a wonderful trip in the summer of 2021 to see family, in the states, it was still uncertain as to whether we could fly internationally. Throw in some bouts with covid and long covid and my earning potential dropping dramatically and well, here it is the summer of 2022 and no travel plans in sight.
I still dream of Berlin.
A trip to Germany has roots in a few things. One, I will be going with my son. He and I have been learning German for the past few years, and we have rudimentary conversations with each other in German. It would be amazing to go to the country and hear German spoken by native speakers. Another reason is after being told I was Irish most of my life, my son and researched our ancestry and learned that we are more German than anything else.
Wir sind Deutsch.
