Haunted and Creepy Places in San Francisco — Find Out Where the Bodies Are Buried

In writing this article, I learned a lot about my native city. I grew up in a part of San Francisco called the Richmond District. I knew of one cemetery that had been removed but it wasn’t near where I lived, or so I thought. In my research for this story, I learned that there were once cemeteries all over the Richmond District! Where I had gone to school, lived, and worked.

From haunted to creepy, here are 10 places in San Francisco that surprised even a long-time resident.

Legion of Honor Museum

Located in Lincoln Park. The Legion of Honor boasts a collection of fine arts from the ancient world. Most visitors aren’t aware that it also sits atop an old cemetery.

In 1920 the Legion of Honor was built right over the old City Cemetery with apparently little to no attempt to even remove graves in true Spielberg Poltergeist fashion. Contractors of the time…
