Wildfires, floods, heat waves, hurricanes, plague, and war, our time is running out to reverse the damage we caused
Seattle is known for its pristine mountains, the beautiful water of the Puget Sound, its iconic coffee shops and music scenes. Seattle also has the worst air quality in the world right now. Due to over a dozen wildfires in the state fueled by unseasonably warm temperatures and a late rainy season.
It’s not normal to see ash in your front yard day after day for weeks in Seattle. No, Mt. Rainier has not erupted, it’s just climate change.
Wildfires have been a common occurrence in Southern California for decades but the wildfires have slowly been creeping north for some time. Northern California has a wildfire season now, it’s become that common. It would seem, this is the case for the Pacific Northwest as well.
The U.S. isn't alone in experiencing climate change. Floods have devasted Pakistan, and a deadly heat wave caused 53,000 deaths in France alone this summer. Back in the U.S. Hurricane Ian was the second deadliest storm this century, Katrina was the deadliest.
